Chiquis Barron Tucson Festival of Books 2016

April 2016: With the support of the Quality Americana Hotel and the Nogales Chamber of Commerce, celebrate Día del Niño in this free art and literary event led by Chiquis. Experience the creativity of our Southern Arizona youth as they read from their works and exhibit their art. Saturday, April 30, 5:00 PM at The Little Gallery inside the Americana Hotel (639 N. Grand Ave., Nogales, AZ).

March 2016: Join Chiquis on Monday, March 14 at 5:15 PM in her hometown of Nogales, AZ where she will address members of the Nogales Unified School District Board to talk about her work and her passion for promoting literature and the arts.

March 2016: Visit Chiquis at this year’s Tucson Festival of Books. Her books, self-affirmation notecards and other fun activities will be available in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Pavilion (tent #162, just South of the Student Union) from 12:30 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 13.

March 2016: Join Chiquis in celebrating the launch of Good Things for a Young Woman’s Spirit on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Starbucks in Nogales, AZ at 5:00PM.

February 2016: Listen to Chiquis on The AADYCT Teens in Real Life Show on Máxima 99.1 FM in Nogales, AZ on Sunday, February 14 at 11AM. She will discuss Good Things for a Young Woman’s Spirit and talk about emotional wellness for teens.

January 2016: Chiquis’ motivational gift book, Good Things for a Young Woman’s Spirit, is scheduled for release on March 1, 2016 and can be pre-ordered now. Click here to learn more.

July 2015: Read Chiquis’ essay “Chameleon” (also available in Spanish) in the inaugural issue of Panorama Sonoran Desert Art & Literary Journal available online and in print. Click here for more information.

March 2013: Chiquis will once again form part of the Tucson Festival of Books. She will read works by Lorraine López and Carolina De Robertis from the collection of stories Count on Me: Tales of Sisterhoods and Fierce Friendships by Las Comadres Para las Américas.

February 2013: Café Dulcet is now part of the scenery at the Nogales Santa Cruz County Public Library.

October 2012: Chiquis’ essay “To the Rhythm of my Shiny, Shimmering Shoes” has been selected for publication in Harmony Literary Arts Magazine. Magazine Launch: Monday, October 22, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Hotel Congress, Tucson, AZ.

October 2012: Join Chiquis for a reading and book discussion of Café Dulcet at La Casa Azul Bookstore in New York City’s El Barrio in East Harlem: Sunday, October 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

March 2012: Chiquis will be participating in the 4th Annual Open Studio Tour organized by the Tubac Center of the Arts. She will join artists exhibiting in the Darling Home in Nogales, AZ and read from Café Dulcet.
